Spending the April holidays in the Ardèche – what a brilliant idea!

April Holidays in the Ardèche
Why not come and spend Easter in the Ardèche? When the temperatures, weather and water levels allow, April offers some wonderful moments to enjoy. I’d like to share with you our favourite spots, lovely walks, gourmet spots – in short, our own little ‘Madeleines de Proust’.
Canoeing
We’re open from 1 April to kick off our season – a gentle start with temperatures still on the cool side. So the easiest thing to do is give us a call so we can discuss what’s possible. At this time of year, we provide wetsuits and waterproof jackets; we also recommend bringing technical clothing – go on, dig out your ski gear – a light fleece and a Lycra top are advisable. Cotton clothing doesn’t keep you warm when it gets wet.
Once you’re properly kitted out, a few strokes of the paddle will warm you right up.
Easter egg hunt
So yes, the Easter holidays are a treat for food lovers; if you come for a canoe trip with your children, you can be sure that the Easter bunnies will bring back a few eggs. We’re lucky enough to have excellent chocolatiers in our area: Pierre Chauvet and Guillaume Cerdini.
It’s a chance to visit Aubenas, my hometown.
Alternatively, a little further up in Tain-l’Hermitage, you’ll find the renowned Valrhona chocolate.
Walks
And if the weather isn’t on our side, there are some lovely walks to enjoy in our beautiful region; you can find plenty of information at the Ardèche Gorges Tourist Office.
Ugo can also organise walks for groups of at least eight people. As a certified guide for the nature reserve, he’ll put together a walk that everyone will enjoy, and you’ll leave with a little piece of our Ardèche.
